Josée's Family

The Canadian side of the family.  Josée remains a Canadian citizen but considers herself Québecois, from the French speaking province of Québec.  French was Josée's only language for the first twenty years of her life.  She studied English in school and soon after graduating decided to relocate to Alberta, an English speaking province so she could learn more.  Josée's tenacity and resolve put her in an English speaking office, yet could speak very little English herself.
Québec has many unique, charming attractions including Chateau Frontenac (above left) and Old Québec City.  The European charm of Québec is most appealing to visitors.  Be sure to bring a French dictionary!  One of the most unique events in Québec is the Winter Carnival.  Bonhomme Carnival (right) celebrates the snow and cold of winter in Québec City. The winter festival takes place in February in the oldest parts of Quebec Winter Carnival includes an ice castle, French Canadian folk music, drink (just to stay warm) and plenty of fun.  Of course, the sub-zero temperatures are also unique fun.
Huron-Wendat LonghouseJosée and her family also have a rich native American heritage.  They are part of the Canadian Huron Indian tribe.

Mike's Family

The American side of the family.  Mike is native to sunny, Southern California and was born and raised near Los Angeles.  From his earliest memories, travel seemed to be a major part of Mike's life.  Travel was a necessity being raised with strong family ties and with family spread all over the country.  While growing up, Mike and his parents went on weekend trips up and down the state.  Summers were often spent flying across the country visiting family.  Perhaps that explains his passion for aviation.

His parents, three sisters and much of the rest of Mike's immediate family still live there.  While some extended family resides in Rochester, New York and other points East, he has family all over the world.

Mike grew up in California and still considers it home.

He stays in contact with other extended family in Italy, Switzerland and France.  And, he has several lifelong friends in Germany.  Of course, growing up in Southern California has distinct advantages.   For example, imagine growing up at Disneyland!

Huron-Wendat LonghouseBeing seen is the norm in LA.  There is no lack of conspicuous sights to see there.  With Hollywood and its movie stars next door, it's no wonder that LA has a distinct personality.

If you haven't taken a summer to visit and experience Southern California, Mike suggests you make a point of it soon.  Take in a Dodger game while you're there!
